Subscription Services

The Tax Law Institute provides "Pro Se Litigant Tutorials" for individuals proceeding without an attorney in tax-related matters in the following federal courts:

  • United States Tax Court
  • United States District Court
  • United States Court of Federal Claims

This program is coordinated by an attorney admitted to practice before the U.S. Tax Court.


The tutorials cover the following:

  • Understanding Rules of Practice and Procedure of the Federal courts
  • Conducting Legal Research Without Legal Training
  • Using Law Libraries and Online Resources
  • Simple Preparation of "Motions" and "Memoranda of Law"
  • Opposing "Motions" Submitted by the Opposition
  • Deadlines and How Not to Miss Them
  • Participating in Settlement & Pre-Trial Conferences
  • Conducting and Participating in Discovery
  • Preparing for the Bench or Jury Trial
  • Understanding the Federal Rules of Evidence
  • Making Your Case Before a Judge or Jury
  • Post-Trial Motions and How to Use Them
